First Deep Seafloor Lander Arrives at SAMS

The SAMS team recently received its first dark oxygen lander named ‘Alisa’, which is capable of measuring dark oxygen production and hydrogen production at the deep seafloor.  The lander is built to withstand the pressures at the deepest ocean depths (11km). It features seafloor chambers and micro-profiling systems and oxygen, conductivity, pressure, and turbidity sensors.  The lander is currently undergoing testing and will depart on its first expedition in 2026.
